A new 760 million tons of coal resources have been discovered in the Huainan coalfield in Anhui.

Recently, the "Verification of Coal Resource Reserves and Deep Exploration Report for the Pan San Coal Mine in Huainan City, Anhui Province," compiled by the Second Exploration Team of the Anhui Coalfield Geological Bureau, successfully passed the review by the Anhui Provincial Department of Natural Resources. The report shows that within the mining rights area of the Pan San Coal Mine, 760 million tons of newly discovered coal resources have been identified, equivalent to the reserves of a large-scale coal mine. This is of great significance for further ensuring the strategic coal resource reserves in the Huaibei-Huainan area.
The Pan San Coal Mine is located in the Huainan Coalfield and is a super-large modern mine, with its resource assurance capacity playing a key role in regional energy security.
The Second Exploration Team of Anhui Coalfield set up 9 drilling sites, with nearly 10,000 meters of drilling work conducted. Using a dual-tube single-action coring method with rope retrieval, they achieved precise and efficient full coring, overcoming technical challenges such as complex deep geological conditions. They completed geological mapping, drilling engineering, sample testing, and other exploration tasks to a high standard, opening up a "second space" for mineral exploration and gaining a comprehensive understanding of the deep coal resource distribution in the mine, laying a solid data foundation for accurate resource accounting.
The Huaibei-Huainan Coalfields are major coal production bases in China, including the Huaibei and Huainan mining areas. Located adjacent to the core economic area of East China, they provide energy security coverage for both the East China region and areas along the Yangtze River. This discovery will inject strong momentum for the sustainable development of the Huaibei-Huainan Coalfields and provide greater energy resource support for Anhui's economic development.
